Has anyone experienced their wifi setting change unexpectedly. Earlier this year I turned WiFi off on both my Sky Q boxes, main and mini.
, after connecting them via Ethernet. I confirmed they were off with a WiFi analyser on a mobile phone. A couple of months later the mini was getting glitchy again. Look in settings and wifi back on in both boxes. Turned it off and double checked a couple of weeks later.
Changed broadband yesterday, which shouldn't have made a difference as on Ethernet, and neither box was connected to internet. Go into settings and both boxes had, at some point, reverted to WiFi.

Yes, this seems to be by design.
It was always intended to be a wireless mesh network set up with the main Q box acting as a server to the Q mini boxes, but over the years many people have ended up with a mix of wireless and wired for stability.
The boxes do tend to do a reset when there is a change, looking to go back to that default behaviour. At least you know what to check first now when it does happen. 👍

Thanks. I hestitate to accept it is works as designed. Or if it is I think it is a poor design. Still, as you say I know what to look for now. The question being how often to check.

My rule of thumb is, if it is working, don't touch it!
