Sky Q. Mini Box Youtube

Evening all. We have a Sky q main box in the living room on the ground floor and a mini box in a bedroom on the 1st floor. Youtube works fine and dandy on the main box in the living room but will hardly work at all on the mini box. We keep getting "something is wrong" type messages and it loads incredibly slowly...when it loads at all. Have updated the software on both boxes through "Settings", tested the WiFi speed and that's fine, rebooted both boxes and cleared all recordings out completely. Other apps such as Netflix, BBC Iplayer, ITV X and the Channel 4 app are working fine.Now in the process of refreshing apps (could take 24 hours?) 1. Anyone else had this problem? 2. Anyone think of anything else I could do to sort this out? Many thanks

Try refreshing your apps;

 

  1. Press Home on your Sky Q remote, then highlight Settings
  2. Press 0,0,1 and Select to access the Installer menu
  3. Select Apps then highlight Refresh all Apps on this box. You'll see a message that says, 'Your apps are being refreshed'.
  4. Press Dismiss to return to normal viewing.

The refresh can take 24 hours to complete.

Hi @Claire601 Try rebooting your router by removing the power cable for 30 sec then reconnect to reboot, then reboot your main SKYQ box by turning the power off at the socket for 30 sec then turn back on?

It's every day with sky. They change you sky high prices and it's constant problems. I'm sure we can get better from a different provider with all the same stuff for less cost. I'm sick of sky. I've o ly had it a few months and already my bill has gone from £70 a month to over £100. And every day there has been a problem. This has hot tk change. They are robbing us blind a d the last time sky went down I was told it was because they got hacked and they stole all our personal data.

Mine won't load either. It's a new problem every day with sky. Last time it went down it was because they got hacked and had our personal data stolen. So much for protecting our personal data.

@Kerrie1978 can you expand on your comment Last time it went down it was because they got hacked and had our personal data stolen . Last time what went down ? if you mean YouTube then if YouTube was hacked that has nothing to do with Sky

Middle of yesterday afternoon YouTube stopped working on both Q box and mini. Tried everything nothing works.  Tried the guest mode, nothing. Tried to sign in did there was an error and to try later. So annoying. Can still get on the phone, iPad and computer so not a YT problem.

Yes the apps refresh can take up to 24 hours to fully sort out app issues or refreshes for any cache problems.

But often it's quicker.

Afraid it's just a wait and see at this point.

 

You could also try a restart of your broadband router.

A couple of other people were having issues yesterday in another thread. Maybe a short term glitch?

Ok.Update...Both the main and mini boxes (accessed by 00 1  etc) reports that they are no longer refreshing apps so logic suggests that refreshing is complete. Have rebooted both boxes. Main box has YouTube working fine but YouTube still won't work on the mini box. We are getting the message "Something went wrong. Try again later " from time to time and when you go to search for a video it won't retrieve it

One thing you could try on your mini

I'm assuming from  what you say in your last post, it sounds like you can get into the home screen of the YouTube app.

If so, scroll down to the settings gear icon on the left side and scroll down to reset app.

Do a reset app.

This may log you out of YouTube after doing so, so you will need to log back in again.

Plus some of the apps default settings may be reset, like default languages or playback quality. 
Resetting the app data does not  delete your watch history or saved playlists.
