Sky Q Box

Hi,

When I bought Sky Q, I paid an upfront fee of I think £99 and a reduced monthly fee.

Now I have moved house and changed my subscription and no longer use Sky Q, Sky want the Sky Q box back.

I thought I had purchased the box, does anyone know why I paid the upfront fee, if it wasnt to buy the box ?

Many thanks.

hi @Nigel-SkyQ

The upfront costs are installation/admin fees and are non-refundable.

They are not a purchase cost, I am afraid, as all SKY Q kit remains the property of SKY &, as you have found, SKY want it back.

They will also charge if the kit is not returned but it still remains their property - the non return fee is refunded when they get the kit back

@Nigel-SkyQ  If you check through your sky contract it states when any subscription is cancelled you must return any q box, mini box,or router otherwise sky will hit you with a non return charge.

Indeed.  For many this will include an engineer to install and align a satellite dish, run cabling and configure the box.

Regardless, it's unambigious in the contract that the hardware remains Sky's property and must be returned once the subscription has ended.

Admin charge.  Take note: when you return the Sky Q box, make sure you keep the proof of posting... forever!  The 3rd party logisitics company is rubbish at informing Sky that they have received equipment, so you will need the proof of posting when Sky chases you for a non-return fee!
