After it has gone blank, press the On button and ensure the LED goes green
Then press the following keys in Sequence
Home 1 0 8 0 Home

Hi @1975clan1
Have you tried pressing the Standby button (Amber led) on the front of the Q box.
If this turns the Q box on
With the Q box on with green led try completly resetting your Bluetooth remote.
Press and hold 7 & 9 together on the remote until it’s led flashes four times.
Then make sure that you are pointing your remote at the Q box and press 1 & 3 together until the led flashes and follow onscreen instructions to re- pair to TV.

I've had what looks like the same issue for the last year or so. It started out that I had to unplug the box and it would start up as normal afterwards, this happened a couple of times a week. This has progressed to the point where it might happen several times a day .I follow the steps stated on Sky's website to reset the box. It can take many attempts and over an hour to get the box to work again ,often a red light will remain on in the Q button
I've ordered a new box which should come tomorrow

Don't forget your viewing card 😉
and swap the power connector too just in case it's the different type.

I read somewhere on the Sky website that, if you've got Sky Go on your phone, you can switch the box on from the app. It worked for me. The app has a little mini controller that looks similar to the real handset. I pressed the Home button on that(looks like a house) and the tv and box did turn on.

Yes.
Using Sky Go on an Apple phone or iPad does have a Sky Q remote control function.
It is not available on the Android or PC version of Sky Go.
We have not heard anything on when or if it will come to those devices anytime.

Luckily I have an iPhone! Curious that it's not available on Android phones.

And then you presumably lose all the programmes you've recorded?!

I assume that was a reply to the "ordered a new hox which arrives tomorrow" post?
Well yeah - but guess what, you don't own perpetual rights to those recordings anyway and hard drives fail. As do VHS tapes and DVDs and SD cards. And no one is storing movies on punched cards.

I realise that but I've got a BIG backlog of recordings to watch so I'd be pretty unhappy to lose them all. I might even cry or have a tantrum.
