Sky Q Box Ethernet Connection (Not Mini)

I have a full fibre broadband connection with Zen Internet.  I've connected the router (Fritzbox) to the Sky Q Box with an ethernet cable, turned off the WiFi on the SkyQ Box and gone through the wired connection setup menu, but the box can't find and IP address. I've power cycled both the router and the box but that makes no difference.

I've gone back to a WiFi connection until I can solve the issue.

Any ideas?

It took a few attempts for me.

tried setting a fixed address?

do other devices get an address ok using the same cable?

I'll check the cable out on a laptop - hopefully it's that simple!

New Ethernet cable fixed the problem straight away. 

Top tip: Old cables with phone socket type connectors ARE NOT Ethernet cables.

I have the same issue but my Ethernet cable is brand new.   When I try to connect with the cable it keeps on asking for an IP address.   I am using a Powerline as I can't connect the Ethernet cable directly with the router.   How do I get an IP address?

Powerline might not be working. If the router isn't seeing the dhcp request come through the ethernet connection at its end. No way to get an IP address otherwise. No point assigning a manual one. Test with a long ethernet cable if possible.
