Unrelated

Unfortunately. Got its own thread. I have this one too.

edit: hold on! No it's working now. Seems like the app has changed. Pausing brings up a different UI at the bottom and resuming works fine.

Hi all,

An update to the above - the download stream is now available to manually update the software on your Sky Q box. So if you don't have the QR270.000.10.09 update already and don't want to wait for the automatic rollout, you can go to Settings > System Info > Setup, and perform the software update🙂

I'm now on this version on my V3 box (internal PSU) and apart from a single black screen after an ad break on Disney+ all appears ok (so far). I'm hoping this has also fixed the Sports+ pixelation issue I was getting, but that remains to be seen as there is no proper footy on at the mo. Thanks to Sky for the (eventual) fix. Too late to change my decision to leave once my contract is up though.

So what version is the box meant to be on? I don't want to update unless we've been told to and what if doesn't work or makes it worse

With a fix to the issue in this thread, you can update now manually to QR270.000.10.09

As mentioned in post 865 above.

Your box in a month or so via a forced rollout to all customers will be moved onto that release.

Or indeed Chloe's two posts (the latter of which said it's now available to everyone if they do a manual update) on the previous page where she said what the latest version is, which were 6 and 5 posts respectively before Mark replied saying he's got the latest and it doesn't work. 😉

Re: Sky Q Apps pixelating

I did the update as suggested. Although it does actually tell you, it's easily overlooked at the end of the process you have to go into standby and wait a while for the process to comlete. On coming out of standby, check the update number again.

Re: Sky Q Apps pixelating

I watched a film on Apple last night and while I noticed a couple of split second image judders (not really sure how else to describe it) I didn't see any of the full screen pixellation that we've had previously. So the early signs are positive for me.

Re: Sky Q Apps pixelating

Not sure whether new box with external power supply , or update has resolved my issue , but either way issue resolved both the apps issue and sound blanking when watching UHD.  All seems good now

That'll be because the Q doesn't support native film framerate.

switching on the framerate option for apps so it uses 60Hz instead of 50 for that type of content is a bit better but not as good as 24 (or a multiple) would be.
