Sky Multi screen in garden room

Hi,

I've got Sky Q and Sky broadband. Sky Q is connected by wired Ethernet.

I've now got a garden room and have had the Ethernet cable put in. I use a Wi-Fi extender/router in the garden room and connect my tv and other things.

I want  to watch sky down there in peace!! Would multi screen work? If so, what set up is needed? Ie does it plug straight into the extender device, connect to Sky broadband etc.

im keen to purchase but just want to know it will work!!

thanks for any help

Hi @ODog1980

A  Sky Q mini will not connect to a 3rd party WiFi device.

Your best solution is an Ethernet cable connected to your Sky router same as your Main Q box.

When all boxes are connected by Ethernet you can then switch off all Q box WiFi.
Edit When on Sky Broadband it is not necessary to turn off all WiFi
Start with main Q box and first carry out a Network reset with the Ethernet connected.
Network Reset found in Q box Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Select connect wired to non Sky Router (or Sky router if on Sky Broadband). Do not carry out any WPS and just wait for the box to connect. It may take a couple of minutes. If it does not connect there is an issue with the Ethernet connection.
As soon as it connects go into the Q box hidden menu and turn off WiFi.

To enter hidden menu press Home and navigate down to Settings but do not select Settings.
With Settings highlighted press 0 0 1 Select.
Go to Network to turn off both bands of WiFi. Confirm before exit.

Repeat the network reset on any minis in the Mini Home menu with the Ethernet connected. Again do not do any WPS and just wait for it to connect.
Once it is connected go into the mini hidden menu (same procedure as above) and turn off both bands of WiFi. Confirm before exit.

Re: Sky Multi screen in garden room

Thank you!

Then I assume I get my TV to search for the device and then connect to it?

I suppose I could then just changed back to the 3rd party router when I'm not using the TV?

Why not just add an unmanaged switched at the end of the ethernet cable in your garden room. and plug the mini box into that

You shouldn't actually need the wifi extender /router in the garden rooom if you have a mini pliugged into the network via ethernet as the mini will act as a wifi hotspot (especally as you have SKY Broadband)
