Sky Multi Room Sky Q

I already have a subscription with 2TB Sky Q and 4 Mini Boxes all works fine.

I am helping my son order a New Sky Q system for a different address, we add all the desired pachages and the multiroom option for £15 which adds one minibox to what i presume is a 1TB Box Main Box. It says additional boxes can be ordered later but does not mension a price.

What i want to know is what the current cost is of additional mini boxes and i expect it will need a 2TB main box.

Need to know this cost to compare to Streem, before i commit to the order.

Anyone know.?

hi @ryanhanson  I think they are £50 although I am not sure

You do not need a 2TB to use more than 1 mini at the same time - a 1TB UHD box (the current default) also supports 2  active minis

Re: Sky Multi Room Sky Q

So the current 1TB Q box must differ from the one we had upgraded when we got the 4 mini boxes on our account a couple of years ago.

Hi @ryanhanson   Correct. The latest 1TB & 2TB boxes have a common hardware version 32B2xx. If they insist on a 2TB box they will probably get an old 32B1xx box.

Re: Sky Multi Room Sky Q

right that makes sense then.. just need to confirm the cost of boxes, we got our 4 for free at the time, i guess they charge now because they want to push people onto streem instead.

The original 1TB (2016-2019) was HD/SD only and permitted one Mini in use.

The 1TB released in late 2019 was UHD/HDR and allows two Minis.

Getting 4 free would always have been very unusual, well before Stream was a thing: typically only the first Mini had no additional up-front cost.

@ryanhanson

I guess by that point in Q deployment it might actually have become cheaper to store excess Mini box stock at subscriber addresses than in a warehouse ; )
