Sky Mini Box going on and off

I recently changed from the old Sky small black router to the white Sky Max one. I run an Ethernet lead out the back of it to my Sky mini box which is in a garden room that is too far away from the house to be able to connect via WiFi.

I haven't had any issues doing this with the old router for the 4 and a half years I had it, nor with the Sky Max one (which was installed two months ago). However in the last two days,  the screen has started going blank for a second and then comes on again several times. It does it on recordings and live TV and makes viewing impossible. After much testing, I know it's neither my TV at fault nor the Ethernet lead. And therefore can only be either the mini box or a problem coming from the Sky Max hub. I've tried resetting the Sky mini box, powering everything down and up again several times and it's still the same. Has anyone experienced the same and does anyone have any help they can offer? Many thanks.

Hi @MATTHEW+WEBSTER

The Sky Max router when used with Sky Q acts like a 3rd party router (not Sky).

With 3rd party routers with Q,  if you want to run minis on Ethernet then it's advisable to also have the main Q box also on Ethernet connected to the router.

Re: Sky Mini Box going on and off

Where would I plug the Ethernet into the Sky Max router? In the purple port? Thanks

No @MATTHEW+WEBSTER

The four Yellow ones are for device Ethernet connection.

When all boxes are connected by Ethernet you can then switch off all Q box WiFi.

Start with main Q box and first carry out a Network reset with the Ethernet connected.
Network Reset found in Q box Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Select connect wired to non Sky Router.
Do not carry out any WPS and just wait for the box to connect. It may take a couple of minutes. If it does not connect there is an issue with the Ethernet connection.
As soon as it connects go immediately into the Q box hidden menu and turn off WiFi.

To enter hidden menu press Home and navigate down to Settings but do not select Settings.
With Settings highlighted press 0 0 1 Select.
Go to Network to turn off both bands of WiFi. Confirm before exit.

Repeat the network reset on any minis in the Mini Home menu with the Ethernet connected. Again do not do any WPS and just wait for it to connect.
Once it is connected go immediately into the mini hidden menu (same procedure as above) and turn off both bands of WiFi. Confirm before exit.

Hi. Just to say I tried all the steps you told me to do and it's still doing the same, if not more. Lots of screen flashing off and volume dropouts too. I've booked a sky engineer for next week, but it really is driving me mad.

Re: Sky Mini Box going on and off

I also had new Sky mini box sent out and it's still doing the same. It's so infuriating and can't find anyone on the discussion that's it happened to. My worst fear is the engineer can't fix it when he comes
