Re: Sky HDR

@Piesarus  you might need to faff with the settings abit as I had to turn off truemotion and all the noise reductions and turn the sharpness back down mine was oversaturated when I turned it on but that's because it defaulted to standard instead of cinema check that

@winstong1234

Plus you need to not have a V1 2tb box (or the original 1tb box).

@rozel  Sorry there are so many posts.

Unfortunately I don't know however it does seem very similar.

Re: Sky HDR

@gems+151  I already have picture processing settings switched off as I don't like the effects. Given the PQ is just right for us for DV and HDR from Netflix Apple and Prime I will leave well alone especially given the very limited content on Sky currently.

Re: Sky HDR

@Piesarus

The HDR on your HDMI input might have a different picture setting to the HDR on your apps, so you could adjust one without impacting the other. Worth finding out (make a note of the picture settings so you can put it back if it's not the case).

Re: Sky HDR

@bob1234  Yes I know lol and thanks for responding.  I am still trying to establish whether my need to toggle is due to my Receiver, Samsung KS9500 TV or the vagaries of HDR-HLG.  Posts on here, Samsung and Yamaha forums as I write this 🙂

Re: Sky HDR

@rozel

It's your receiver. But the simple way to find out is to connect your Sky box to your One Connect box and then watch the HDR content....

Re: Sky HDR

@Piesarus Do you need to alter your picture settings on your tv? HLG only works on my Samsung Q90 on "Standard" and "Movie". It doesn't work on "Dynamic" and one other, can't remember...

Re: Sky HDR

Nobody should need to alter settings on any TV other than to ensure Deep Colour is enabled on the relevant HDMI as HDR requires a wider colour space.

Your TV should instinctively recognise the signal and adjust the settings accordingly. With HDR on the C9 it will do just that but, with a Dolby Vision signal it will switch to 'Cinema Home' by default. This should be changed to the 'Cinema' preset by the user.

Re: Sky HDR

@Rhonny  thanks, will do. Thank goodness for cameras on smartphones. Taking a picture of settings is such a boon.

Re: Sky HDR

@Rhonny   Thanks, I've done that and all is fine.  Cannot find any issue with Receiver however, but wondering if it's the HDMI cable now, although it works ok when it kicks in - HDR-HLG that is.  But not discounting the Receiver though.

Re: Sky HDR

I upgraded to sky q in December 2018 and pay for UHD and extra mini box. Cannot believe on checking today that the main box has "old technology" and not compatible with HDR. Does anyone know what "older boxes" means date wise and when will we be able to switch to a modern box? Michael

Re: Sky HDR

l am also in the same boat as you, is this going to cost to upgrade to a later box??

@Roberthome34  and @michaelcft  Please refer to here for a statement from a Sky community manager - https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky-Q/Sky-HDR/m-p/3321080#M314996

Re: Sky HDR

@michaelcft  You could have got anything. It's a lottery. As I understand it sometimes Sky will even give you an old refurbished box. I got lucky and have a V2 2tb (I think) box which handles HLG. As far as box upgrades is concerned Sky has said "over the coming months". Mind you, they promised HDR in 2019 and it never arrived...
