Sky HD

Given that practically all broadcasters now produce their output in HD why do Sky charge extra for the privilege of having HD?

Shouldn't this be free?

Because they can.   They still broadcast many channels in SD.

No, but that's a commercial decision.  Free-to-Air HD channels are 'free'.  (You don't need the HD pack for them)

Re: Sky HD

Even the late-comer, BT TV and BT Sport (now TNT Sport) charge extra for HD.

  • Its disgusting now that virtually everyone has HD and just an excuse to screw more money out of people.
