Sky HD Box out dated

I have received an email about my sky HD + box. I have been offered a sky Q free of charge.

Re: Sky HD Box out dated

I have been told my sky HD box can no longer  be updated . And have been offered a sky Q box instead..I need to know if this is still avaliable, for how long the contract and how much a month.

Hi @Shirley02

Afraid you are not contacting Sky directly here as this is a customer forum.
If you need to contact them you need to persevere by phone.
To contact Sky
Select Need more help
at the bottom of the following link and this will lead to a phone contact.

Note that the messaging from Sky is somewhat misleading: there are no 'updates' relevant to a Sky+ HD box, because it's inherently limited by being a rather old platform (last manufactured in 2015)

Sky+ HD is likely to continue being able to work with satellite television (and its existing on-demand functionality) for the remainder of the lifespan of that broadcasting technology.  What it won't ever do is output UHD, host apps or permit access to the new generation of streaming provision such as the upcoming Sky Sports+ service or HBO content if that moves from Sky Atlantic to the WBD Max app in 2025-26, as seems likely.

hi @Shirley02

One thing to bear in mind is that although it is no longer supported (repair & dish wise etc) by SKY and won't receive updates then it may continue working as it has done in the past for quite a while yet.

You may wish to read some notes I have made for people considering switching from SKY +/HD to SKY Q

SKY +/HD to SKY Q

@Shirley02

So basically, if you like your current Sky+HD box and it does everything you want it to, then you can still carry on using it for the foreseeable future.

You don't need to change to Sky Q if you don't want to.
