The process described by @lettice is the usual way to do it. The courier will not be expecting the faulty box to be already packaged up. If you did that he/she wouldn't be able to see what you're returning.

Re: Sending Sky Q Box back
When the DOD courier is on your doorstep, you can unpack your new box when it’s delivered, and put your old box, remote and HDMI cable into the same packaging. Hand it back to the courier when you’re done.
The courier will not fully hand over the new box, until they have seen the old box for replacement.
Most importantly if doing a door swap for a replacement Sky Q box, is to remove your current Sky Q viewing card.
You will need that for the replacement Sky Q box.

Re: Sending Sky Q Box back
DPD sent me a message stating that they are expecting that my old Sky Q box will be readily boxed for an exchange. I need to rearrange a collection of my old Sky Q box. The new Sky box will be delivered today by DPD.

Re: Sending Sky Q Box back
Hi @Katrine1 I would make sure that you include all the accessories to be swapped. Take your viewing card out now and keep it. We have had several cases of people not swapping their power cable and ending up with one that doesn't work. Make sure you have everything before you let the driver go. Important, have everything ready, they are not known for their patience.

Re: Sending Sky Q Box back
It's not true that expect it to be packaged up. You just put it in the box the new one comes in.
