Samsung TV & Sky Q Mini Box
Hi, not sure if anyone else has had the issue as see similar on some sites. I have been having connectivity issues, dropped connections for a while but the main problem is the speed in which the Mini talks to the main box. Changing channels can take 30 secs and when you press play on a recording it takes a long time to come up, sometimes the sound is there but no picture for over 30 secs. When in the program and fast forwarding it seems to jump around a lot and then when you select play it just carries on.
I had the main box replaced, no change. I then had the Mini boxes changed, no improvement. The last engineer had no clue before deciding it need a two man team. They came along and said that the one mini box connected to the Sky mesh had poor connectivity even though it is only 4m away from the main box. They turned off WiFi for the mini in the bedroom and disabled the 2.4Ghz on the other two boxes. After everything was reset it was working as it should. I tried to use the Bedroom TV to connect to one of the apps and found they had turned off the networking so reconnected it and the mini box was useless again. Tried hardwiring it and still not good. I disconnected the RJ45 and the mini works properly. Any ideas?
Set up.
Sky Q - hard wired
Samsung TV - hard wired
Mini in bedroom - hard wired
Samsung TV - tried WiFi and hard wired
Mini in Kitchen - Mesh to main box
Samsung TV - WiFI
My WiFI is Ubiquti AP's and the only thing the Sky mesh is used for is to connect one mini and is on opposite end of the spectrum on 5Ghz.

I missed your last sentence when I replied to your same post within the avforums. However have you a managed switch in your network but if the Sky WiFi mesh is still on I wonder if that's causing an issue with the setup as I'm sure it is recommended that if wired it should be completely off.

Re: Samsung TV & Sky Q Mini Box
Well, the engineers said that was OK. It isn't always possible to run a cable to each box which is why the mesh network is used. This doesn't always work all over the house hence the hard wire. I do have a managed switch but seperated the Sky components from it and it still failed. Yesterday I created a VLAN and put one of th eTV's in it and it seems better. Not something most people could do though and would have thought Sky should work with all TV's on the network.

Re: Samsung TV & Sky Q Mini Box
I'm sure one of the more SkyQ technically minded could chip in about the mix wired/WiFi connections but with this managed switch, is it in the same network that any Sky boxes/hubs are wired up to?
Also, which ISP are you using?

Re: Samsung TV & Sky Q Mini Box
Yes, the switch is in the same network, there is only one in the house. And I seem to have isolated it to one Samsung TV that I bought last year but the issue has only been going on for a few months.

Can you take the switch out of the network temporarily?

Re: Samsung TV & Sky Q Mini Box
I have already tried that. I am with EE so have their router and plugged the Sky boxes direct into that and they were the only devices connected. It is really puzzleing.

There has been issues reported when using SkyQ and EE hubs thus I can only suggest a search through here in this support forum or EE's own. For example https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky-Q/Sky-Q-box-crashing-amp-box-fan-spinning-loudly-EE-Broadband/m-p/4...

Re: Samsung TV & Sky Q Mini Box
As I have already said, if you disconnect the Samsung TV in the bedroom then it works fine even with the EE router. I have been with EE for many years and it has been fine. I have now put the TV into a VLAN which seems to have solved the problem. Not something a "normal" user with a basic setup could do though.

Re: Samsung TV & Sky Q Mini Box
Same problem here.
It makes no sense. Why does having a new Samsung on the same hardwired Ethernet network as my Sky Q mini cause the Q Mini box to be so sluggish in its responses?
I will sort out a vlan. Thanks for the suggestion.
Would be nice if the problem was actually fixed.

Re: Samsung TV & Sky Q Mini Box
Incidentally, it's normally only a problem when someone is watching the main Sky Q box at the same time.

Re: Samsung TV & Sky Q Mini Box
It makes no sense why it should do this. Mine was a problem even without the main box being used.

Re: Samsung TV & Sky Q Mini Box
Hi.
I had similar issues with my sky box mini, connection loss, couldn't play recordings, slow an unresponsive. Made numerous phone calls to Sky, eventually they scheduled an engineers visit. He came, I told him the problems I was experiencing, he looked at my tv and said Samsung tv, Is it connected to the internet via WiFi or Ethernet? I said hard wired. He then said Samsung tv is causing the issue, went to his van , came back with an Ethernet cable, hard wired TV to router and Boom, Sky tv mini problems solved. His advise was always connect the Samsung tv via Ethernet cable as Samsung network software is interfering with signals from main box to sky mini.

Re: Samsung TV & Sky Q Mini Box
Mine was already connected via ethernet and still did it. I would have thought the Sky boxes should be tested with all TV's and not blame other manufactures.
