Re: SKY Q and Hd
No, you don't need a HD sub for SD material.

Yes they are.
However they are quite far down the EPG in most cases or being removed as more and more channels switch to HD only, following the BBC example.
LG B6 OLED 55” | LG UP75 LCD 43” | sky Q | sky Q Mini | sky Mobile | sky Soundbox | EE Apple TV 4K | EE Full Works FTTC

The BBC is now only availble in HD but this is FTA and does not need the HD add on
The SKY channels that are changing are not ceasing in SD just changing transmission method which means the old SD boxes can't view them . They are availble and can be watched on SKY Q
BTW You may, also, wish to read some notes I have made for people considering switching from SKY +/HD to SKY Q
P.P.S. you don;t necessarily need to move to SKY Q but could get a second hand HD box
EDIT : Just read your post again - do you have a SKY HD box ?
If so you should not be loosing channels - have you lost them or just getting a message to say you will lloose them

Which channels have you lost ?
Can you still get channels like Alibi & Gold
Do you have your own dish or fed by a communal system ?

Can you see the channels in the EPG
What happens when you try to watch them
Can you also confirm what happens with Alibi & Gold
They are not stopping the channels on HD boxes - as mentioned they are switching transmission type that SD boxes cant decode. They have not switched all yet AFAIK
You appear to have other problems but SKY no longer support HD boxes and are keen to switch everyone to Q or Glass/Stream but that doesn't mean you should need to switch

That isn't correct. The SD signal format used by antique Sky+ (SD-only) hardware is in the process of ceasing, but both SD and HD service to Sky+ HD boxes will continue for the foreseeable future.
Some Sky contact centre staff may be incentivised to cause confusion though, in order to promote switching to Sky Q.
