SKY Q MINI CONNECTION

Hi there,

Aplogies in advance as I'm sure this question has been asked / answered countless times already, but just can't seem to make sense of the exact details!

My problem is I currently have a Sky Q box in the living room, with a mini directly upstairs which is connected via wifi. We now have another mini and want this to go in the kitchen, however it is not finding the main box and therefore not connecting.

We currently have BT wifi with a couple of boosters as house is an old sandstone cottage which we believe affects signal strength - and we're wondering if this is what is causing us issues with sky connectivity.

I'm under the impression I need to use Ethernet to connect everything up, but just wondering what I need to connect to what? Do I connect the mini's to the main box using Ethernet, or do I connect the minis to a wifi router and then the main box to the same router?

Thanks in advance!

hi @Jivess

As you have BT wifi then you need to be aware that the minis do not connect to your wifi but a wifi signal generated by the SKY Q main box.

It would seem this is fine for your 1st mini but probably due to your house to weak for your new mini.

I believe you should be able to connect the new mini directly to the main box via ethernet, leaving the 1st mini using wifi.

The alternative would be to have all boxes connected via ethernet using unmanaged switches or to the router
