SKY Q Hotspot

I Have a SKY Q box and have read that It can act like a hotspot by switching it on in the sky menu. However it does not show up in any on the menus, and yes I am a technical user and work as one. I have read all the articles and been in the advance menu via 001 but nowhere in any of the menus does it show the wifi hotspot. Does anyone else have this issue and if so how have you resolved it

hi @Panasonic+55

It is only availble as an option for 3rd party (i.e. non SKY broadband users) as it is always on for SKY broadband.

If you have a 3rd party  provider then it is only an option on the Main Box (but applies to all boxes)

Home - Settings - Setup -  Network - Advanced Settings

Re: SKY Q Hotspot

Hi, I have the same issue but I am not using Sky BB, I am using another supplier. I don't have any such option for hotspots on any menu, on any box. I have also used the "001" option to no avail. I have my boxes hardwired, but am not receiving any wifi signal from them.

Re: SKY Q Hotspot

As @nigea99 mentioned, I just turned this on on my box, which is around 5yrs old:

Home - Settings - Setup -  Network - Advanced Settings - Turn On

hi @Quillion

Please may I suggest you check the Software version you are on - although I think i is unlikely that you are on a version before it was introduced it is vaguely possible (I think it was around Q220) - we are now on Q250

To check & refresh if needed follow all the steps on this link (skipping any that are OK):

Re: SKY Q Hotspot

@nigea99

Thanks, I am on the latest version.

I just called Sky support who were helpful.

After resetting the settings via the "001" the option for Wifi Hotspots returned. They said reconnect the Mini option, then they also suggested turning off 5ghz option on the Sky Q box but leaving both options (2.4 and 5) on the mini boxes. This seems to have worked. However, the option for the Wifi Hotspots has now disappeared again. It's very flakey as to when it appears. Even after resetting the settings again this option has failed to return. Really strange!

I will monitor the Wifi signal from my mini boxes. Otherwise I will be calling out a Sky engineer.
