SKY Q Box TV does not function and sitting there with a blank screen

Hi, 

I cannot get my TV to switch on. I have a mini Q box and have completed the suggested corrections with no luck. (Home 1,0,8,0 Home etc)

I can hear audio coming through on the GBNews channel but unable to do any changes to the settings as I cannot view the screen.

Any suggestions please?

Hi @Jockinoz 

First try rebooting your television set by disconnecting the power lead for 30 seconds and then reconnecting.

Then try rebooting the mini.

Have you tried rebooting your Q box?
To reboot press Standby on your mini remote (if the box responds to the remote), and then switch off and unplug at the mains.
Wait at least 30 secs and then Plug back in and switch your mini box back on at the mains.
Wait for the on screen instructions to disappear and the front led to turn Amber. Then wait for 30 secs before you press Home on your mini remote or if this is not working press the standby button on the front of the mini box (Amber led)

note: some features may take up to 5 minutes to return.

Please may I,also, suggest unplugging the HDMI Cable at both ends and re-seating it in the sockets

Done as suggested but with no luck.

...am currently awaiting our local tv engineer's visit...(he installed my system) - might be a while, as he is a very busy lad.

Could my Mini-Sky Q box be a suspect?

@Jockinoz  you have probably tried this but in case you haven;t, may I suggest you, also, try a different HDMI input on the TV

Thanks again.....No can do...as I have 55" LG TV fixed on the wall and am unable to lift it off to gain access.

A possibility but as a test, perhaps, you could try taking the mini to your main TV and try it with that

To be clear...my cables are run to and from, the TV/Mini Q box within the wall

I gathered that might be the case but you should be able to use the same HDMI from your Main box  in your mini (taking it be along side it) as a one off test

I'm of an age (84..) where it is all getting too much now, so I'll pass on that advice and just await my TV man to arrive, hopefully in the next few days.

The minis are very portable & I was just suggesting trying it in another TV as a test  but appreciate you might not wish to do that

Thank you both for your kind assistance today.

My problem seems to have resolved itself following another dive in to the cabling accumulated behind a low wall cabinet

unit below my wall hung TV. 

I found a loose cable into a digital analogue converter unit and hey presto....a lovely picture!

I am not in any way a guru on this stuff, so am unable to offer a possible reason why this would resolve the problem

but hey ho...it is resolved and I am happy.
