@Phillandroverhave you tried calling Sky as you'll get a better response than 'on line'.

Your Sky dish and fixings are your responsibility and not Sky's so you can either call Sky for a chargeable repair or employ a local satellite repair company to do the job.

Whilst ownership does transfer, I think SKY are fairly flexible about replacing old faulty dishes & cabling with SKY Q & will often change for free

@Phillandrover

Best to avoid mentioning rust, because Sky does not do cosmetic replacement.  Emphasise the loss of signal.

You do not need to call Sky for your issues, you can book an engineer visit online.
Follow the sky help for loss of signal and picture breakups (in the link below) to the end and use the book an engineer online options.
Sky Help | Sky.com

The engineer will come prepared with a fresh dish, lnb with all the screws and brackets.

Re: Rustin Sky Dish and Brackets

Surely it would be a non chargeablke repair, as dont Sky own the equipment etc etc, we as users just rent it from them. Or does that only apply to the Q boxes etc.

When I moved house last they came and installed free of charge and then again to move the dish once the trees were in flower as it disrupted the signal.

@arthur64The dish and cabling become ours on installation but have a 12 month guarantee (See T&Cs). Sky can charge but I have never heard of them charging for things like that and only occasionally if a dish move is requested.

The dish is not 'rented': it's the property of the resident who originally orders a satellite service but ownership is usually passed on to subsequent residents.  Actually, neither are Q boxes: those are on 'free loan' to facilitate viewing of a subscription service and returnable when subscription ceases.

Sky has always worded its satellite contracts carefully so as to avoid being responsible for several tens of millions of dishes installed since the 1990s, a reasonable percentage of which will not now be in use by Sky television subscribers.  As @bob1234 indicates, they will typically carry out replacements for repair purposes (but usually not cosmetic reasons) free-of-charge on properties with a live Sky satellite subscription at the address.

Hi Superuser just to say thank you for enabling me to book an engineer onliine by following your post instructions in response to a request by another. This is far easier than spending ages on the phone! Take care. Henry
