I am sorry that you feel the way you do about some of the replies here but I think @TimmyBGood 's reply above sums it all up really. 

We know, only too well, that some features on SKY +/HD have never been implemented on Q and , in reality, if they were going to be would have been done a long time ago

I, personally, still miss Bookmarks for instance & even I, in my old SKY HD days  (>6 years now),  occasionally used the slo-mo feature & would appreciate it if it had been implemented on Q

We may not all agree on why or how SKY does things but, probably, those responding are just more in tune with them.

We, do, also,  have to face facts that Stream is the way forward for SKY both here and multinationally and will take most of the development resource with SKY Q really only getting tweaks here & there. 

The biggest development for Q I would have liked to see implemented - although I know it is not simple for Q  - is some form of User profiles.

It does not affect me as I live alone but I know those with families  - especially with  multi-generational members - would find this very beneficial & would help alleviate the problems that old SKY Multiroom users with recordings on separate boxes find when moving to Q where they cannot separate recordings 

We probably all have ideas of minor ways in which Q could be changed to better suit our personal desires but we do, unfortunately ,have to accept that SKY may see things quite differently - as indeed other customers may.

Sky Q has some feature improvements like,

Record 7 chanals simultaneously.

Much bigger storage capacity.

Intergrated streaming apps.

But the Sky+ HD user experience was just so much better. Sky Q is so buggy and has over 20 really annoying flaws that still haven't been fixed since release! I always embrace new improvements and upgrades across all my tech but Sky Q needs a rebuild!

It's unrealistic to think that Comcast would contemplate major changes to a system that has a future lifespan of maybe 4 years. A rebuild is not going to happen.

As @Daniel0210 indicates, it's widely expected that satellite television broadcasting to the UK will cease when the current trio of orbiting platforms at 28.2E (which are not owned by Sky) expend the last of their positioning propellant and so reach the end of their operational life around the turn of the decade.  The Sky contract with SES runs until the end of 2028, and Sky/Comcast released what's effectively its replacement three years ago with Glass & Stream.  It's perhaps also worth remembering that Comcast has historically been a cable television company.

I was just thinking the other day, I do sometimes 🙂. With Sky via satellite ending in the next few years there's going to be several million Q boxes being junked, so why not repurpose them as IP-based boxes.

The concept was tested in Italy prior to the new streaming platform being rolled out because they had a vesion of the old 1TB box that could be connected to a satellite dish or used as an IPTV device although there were some issues with the mini boxes which I'm not sure if it was resolved or not. IIRC it was only available to subscribers also signing up to FTTP with one of Sky's partner broadband providers.

While that would at least be in line with the aims of Sky Zero, I suspect it's not going to happen if only because it would seriously confuse the market for Stream, which is the flagship UK Comcast product (Glass being frankly a distraction).

Practically speaking the Q hardware would probably have to be reprovisioned onto the EntertainmentOS platform (while not having the ARM SoC which Glass/Stream is equipped with) and have local recording disabled, and that's a whole lot of work when Stream pucks can be shipped from China at a few pounds each.
