Remote draining batteries in a few days

My sky q remote is draining batteries in a few days. I got a new remote and the problem is persisting. I've checked for stuck buttons etc but this has happened across 2 different remotes. Could something else be causing it?

They should last years. Can't think of anything that would cause that. Have you tested the batteries afterwards and they've definitely dropped voltage?

@Remotedrainingb Have you tried different batteries (ie different brand/not from the same packet)

The Sky Q remotes should last a good year or more, even with contstant use.

In my eight years or so when I had ky Q, I recall that I changed the batteries only each box twice for my main Sky Q box and Sky Q mini box.

Sounds like the batteries you are using are either not up to the job, so try changing them.

Generally it's best to use Alkaline batteries, rather than the cheaper Zinc type.

Some rechargeable batteries also have been known to cause issues.

Re: Remote draining batteries in a few days

I've tried batteries from different sets. The batteries that came with the new remote were totally different. I've tested the in other things and batteries and they are dead.

It feels like tv or sky box is causing it.

I have the same problem. It's not the quality of the batteries and it's not "useage".

Over the last 4/5 months, I've had to change batteries after a few weeks.

@geedoc

I have maybe changed the batteries in my remote 3 times in just under 6 years. What you're describing isn't common. It might be a faulty remote.

If you follow this link it should eventually send you to a form to request a replacement (I’m not sure if this is available to customers in the Republic of Ireland).

It may be quicker to purchase a new remote from a retailer / larger supermarket. If you do that as well as the above you’ll have a spare.
