How long have you had the Sky Q box though as it wouldn't know/remember the series you were recording on your old Sky+HD box.

If the series is on the same channel and the name hasn't changed then it usually does, however if the channel has changed or the name (even in the slightest) then it won't recognise it as the same programme. That's always been the case as it relies on hidden tags which I think are down to the individual channels/companies.

Yes!! It's so annoying isn't it 😞
I keep missing the first few episodes too. I used to be with virgin and it had that feature.
Is there a way to change this? Did you find anything out? 🤞

I setup series link from season 23 and when 24 started it missed episode 1, and could not find it on catch up. Really annoying

Sky need to add this feature, quick style!
I only knew the programme had a new series because I saw it on Instagram. 😭

@Roxb Sky don't need to add this feature as smart links is already a feature the problem is that it is down to the individual broadcasters to add the correct data to the programmes so they link

What's smart link? Virgin and BT don't seem to have a problem with it, so I just don't understand why a new series doesn't automatically record. 🤷🏼♀️

it should be noted, however, that this works at box level so if a box is replaced previous history is lost.
Personally, I have found Smart links useful but not overly reliable.
I have found it interesting in the past that BBC smart links have sometimes resulted in switching regions (I.e. I live in England but the new series have been BBC Scotland or Wales) - this may change now that there Regional variants are now all HD

Hi @Roxb
As previously explained All series links Smart or Otherwise rely on the Host broadcaster coding the content accordingly.
Any issues with any content not linking correctly can be reported to Sky Viewer relations.

Nonsense, BT & Virgin can both have the same exact problem depending on how the broadcaster encodes the series. ITV and the Discovery group are notoriously bad at it and I can guarantee that, having been on customer service for both in the past.

I can only go by my experience. I was with Virgin for over 10 years and I never had a problem. Been with BT for nearly a year and no problem either.
I've also been with Sky for nearly a year and it hasn't automatically recorded a new series, not once.
