Hi,
You are dead right, the picture quality has improved dramatically. It looks like the image has got a lot smoother and not as rough and grainy as it use to be. The colour pallet has also improved with more accurate colours. This is the first time ever I have noticed this improvemet since moving to Sky Q in 2016.
Btw, my box is the 2T

Since the release of Q230 which hit my box only two days ago, I noticed a considerabe improvement to the picture quality whilts watching BBC1 , ITV, Channel 4 and 5
The main difference that my eyes can really see is the smoothenss of the picture, less grain and rough edges. Also, the colours seem less staurated and more neutral.
I am using a Panasonic HZ1000 set to filmmaker, 1080P on Sky Q 2T
It would be great if anyone could shed some light on to what Sky did to improve the picture.
Cheers

Sounds like you were watching SD channels, now HD...

Joke aside, if you are joking, I don't watch SD channels and who does?
Btw I just realised that Panasonic also released a satabilty software update which can have an impcat on picutre quality and signal strength between Tv and box.
I am not sure which update came first to my Tv as I don't watch much live content.
I will wait and see what others says before making a full conclsion.

You'd be surprised at the amount of people that won't pay for HD. Probably most Sky+ boxes connected via SCART to a 27" 4:3 TV...

You are unlikely to get any official response. Other customers may given their opinion but I've noticed no difference. Any changes are likely to be in the video processing performed during distribution - possibly a shuffle of bitrates.

"signal strength between Tv and box. "
That makes literally zero sense. The digital signal either gets through or it doesn't and sync will fail and you'll get nothing.

Interesting, so the Sky update might have something to do with the improved picture. It's not something I expect form Sky but who knows?!

To confirm, the improvements to the picture on Sky Q 2T has nothing to do with the Panasonic software update. I figured last night that my Tv was still running an older software. So whatever Sky did to enhance the image quality remain unknown. Most people might not notice this improvement as a very keen eye is required to see the enhancement. In my case the image is definitely smoother with less noise.
cheers
