Q ox usage problem

Occasionally when I select the left hand side menu with the intention of finding another item to watch the menu scrolls down to the bottom without giving me the option to select the menu item that I want.

Hi @Controling   It sounds like a problem with your remote like a stuck key. Also remember the remote is using Bluetooth so is there anything near using Bluetooth like a mobile phone.

Re: Q ox usage problem

Thank you for your response.  Unfortunately I have eliminated both possible causes that you have suggested so I am still at a loss as to what causes the problem.  Another peculiarity that has recently occurred is the occasional appearance of a small window showing another channel at the foot of the picture being watched.  That small picture disappears after a few seconds but it is annoying.

Hi @Controling

Try completly resetting your Bluetooth remote.
Press and hold 7 & 9 together on the remote until it’s led flashes four times.
Then make sure that you are pointing your remote at the Q box and press 1 & 3 together until the led flashes and follow onscreen instructions to re- pair.

Re: Q ox usage problem

My eurica moment was premature as the problem has reoccurred.  Any more remedial suggestions would be welcome or should I pay for Domestic & General  service?

Do NOT pay for Domestic & General insurance. All Sky Q equipment (including the remote) is loaned to you by Sky for the duration of your contract. If there is anything wrong with that equipment then Sky will replace it free of charge. Just give Sky a call.

Hi @Controling

Try a Reset Settings in the Q box hidden menu.
To enter hidden menu press Home and navigate down to Settings but do not select Settings.
With Settings highlighted press 0 0 1 Select.
Only Carry out the first Reset (Reset Settings) as the other two will wipe all recordings.
After the Reset you will have to re pair your Bluetooth remote If you use one.
If you cannot switch the Q box on with the remote after the Reset press the Standby button (Amber led) on the front of the box.
To re pair the remote press 1 & 3 together on the remote and follow onscreen instructions to re pair.

Make sure that you are pointing the remote at the Q box when you press 1 & 3 together.

Resetting the settings will also reset:

Audio visual settings, such as picture resolution and HDMI control
Settings changed within the hidden engineer menu, include LNB type. If on a communal dish you need to reset the LNB to SCR in the hidden menu. After changing the LNB type you need to reboot the Q box.

@ControlingThe only advantage of using D&G is to get accident and theft cover also possibly a faster response time than Sky, apart from that no difference I believe they are even the same "engineers"
