Problems with wired link to my skyQ box

I've wired my SkyQ box to my sky hub with a new Ethernet cable but now it doesn't see it.  If I have to manually set IP address what subnet mask etc do I use?

we have done this to speed up our WiFi ... we only get 7Mb internet on a good day (don't laugh) and hope to speed up our WiFi by cabling skyq directly.

appreciate any help

Hi @Jax63

When your Q box is connected by Ethernet you can then switch off all Q box WiFi(provided you have no minis on WiFi)

On the main Q box and first carry out a Network reset with the Ethernet connected.
Network Reset found in Q box Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Select connect wired to non Sky Router (or Sky router if on Sky Broadband). Do not carry out any WPS and just wait for the box to connect. It may take a couple of minutes. If it does not connect there is an issue with the Ethernet connection.

If you have no minis on WiFi as soon as it connects go immediately into the Q box hidden menu and turn off WiFi.

To enter hidden menu press Home and navigate down to Settings but do not select Settings.
With Settings highlighted press 0 0 1 Select.
Go to Network to turn off both bands of WiFi. Confirm before exit.

Hi @Jax63

Connecting your Sky Q box by Ethernet will improve its connectivity, but will not "speed up" your WiFi. If the available bandwidth is only 7mbps then it doesn't matter how devices are connected.

The first thing to try to find out why the Ethernet is not working, is to test the cable. Cable testers are very cheap, but failing that try another device connected to see if that works.

Once you have proved that the cable and connectors are good. Run the Network setup on the Sky Q box choosing the wired network.

If you don't have any Mini boxes, I would disable WiFi in the hidden menu.

Thanks, it turned out that one of the pins had bent over slightly.  All working again now ... funnily enough it has helped the speed of our WiFi to our other devices.
