Hi @oldfella @Oldfella
Thanks for your detailed advice. All makes sense. I'll have to buy one more BT disc for the conservatory mini to try.
Do you think that a confused/multi network set up would cause the main sky Q box to get stuck every two days overnight?
Seems odd to me that the set up has worked perfectly for 5yrs then started having that issue every two days about 5/6 months ago.
I also do not understand why me turning the TV that is connected to the main sky Q on gets the box to go through black and blue screens then the whole system (main & minis) are fine until the next time it gets stuck in 2days time.
Makes me wonder if it a settings issue with the TV. Again strange as have had that TV for 5yrs without issue. I would have thought that whatever the boxes were trying to do every 2days would be independent of the TV so me turning it on or not would not effect.

Hi,
I checked the settings on the main living room TV. Turns out the TV was connected to disc network name not to main BT hub. I changed that last night.
The main sky Q box is connected via ethernet to BT disc but shows the network name of the main BT hub.
The main BT network name is now showing on Sky Q and all minis.
Main box did not get stuck this morning so hoping happy now.

That's pretty standard.

Hi, still no joy.
Got stuck this morning again after changing internet network on TV to main BT hub.
Think I have exhausted what I can try. Looks like I'll need buy another BT disc and do the full ethernet from disc connection on all minis suggested earlier.

Or powerlines, don't forget. At least that worked for me and meant I could leave most discs where they were.

Hi
im having the same problem, had a brand new box installed by sky after reporting the same problem as you.
i find that if I manually turn my box into standby mode at night before going to bed it will be fine in the morning, however if I forget or just leave it on in the morning the fan will be running and the box is totally un responsive. The only way to cure this is to unplug it wait a minute then plug it in and go through the whole start up again.
not had any issues up until about 5 months ago and have tried everything to fix this but to no avail. It's a pain but it looks like the only solution is to unplug and re start each time you Forget to turn it off manually or let the box go into eco mode at night.
any help would be appreciated

Hi,
Have continued the investigation away from this thread. Seems my issue is to with the main sky Q going ethernet into BT disc rather than main BT router post the sky change 6months or so ago. Still gets stuck every 2nd day overnight. I have tried going to BT hub directly but then the sky Q network does not make it to my sky q mini in the shed.
The only solution seems to be to run an ethernet cable from BT hub to shed sky q mini. I don't really want to do this so am just living with the annoyance of it getting stuck every 2days.
I used to unplug and replug main sky Q to get it unstuck. Then I worked out that I could just turn TV on only and that would flick through the blue and black sky screen. This is sorted for another 2days.
Hopefully sky does another update that goes back to how it was before. My set up worked perfectly fine for 5yrs

If the issue was caused by a Sky Update then it would affect all users and not just individual boxes.
Have you checked that all your Q boxes are onthe latest software version and also that they all in the same Standby mode.
However bear if mind that when you select Setup (in Setting - System info - Software version) the message received will always be update this box with the latest software even if the box is already on the latest version.
Updating when already on the latest version achieves nothing and the box software is not refreshed.
All Q boxes and minis should be on the same software version.
See following links for latest Software versions and how to update Q software

I should also point out that there is no nightly update but just a reboot in the early hours.

Cheers mines the same, if I turn off the sky then the tv it's ok but if I or my wife just forget and turn off the tv then in the morning it's fan running and a pull the plug out to re boot the box!! the only way to get it going again. a pain but will have to wait to see if sky send a patch out at some point to rectify the issues.
thanks for the reply and good luck

What "issue"?? If it was in the software we'd all be having problems. As I said further up, turn the TV off via the Sy remote power button long press, and Sky will go into standby at the same time

I have exactly the same problem plus the box is frozen. Recordings set to record overnight fail to record saying 'power cut'. Renoot clears the error nut it happens a lot. Can sky talk me through a solution?

Have you been through the troubleshooter? It concludes with a replacement box order if necessary.

No I haven't. I've just looked in the menus and googled it and can't find a troubleshooter. Could you give me more info on where to find it please? Thanks.

It's ok, I've just found it, thanks for the tip.
