Paramount plus keeps buffering and causes my sky box to be very noisy

Paramount plus buffers every 5 mins and causes the sky q box fan to run at full speed. The only way to stop it is to power off the box and restart it. None of the other apps like Netflix etc does this.

Hi @Deltree27 


Try a Reset Settings in the Q box hidden menu.
To enter hidden menu press Home and navigate down to Settings but do not select Settings.
With Settings highlighted press 0 0 1 Select.
Only Carry out the first Reset (Reset Settings) as the other two will wipe all recordings.
After the Reset you will have to re pair your Bluetooth remote If you use one.
If you cannot switch the Q box on with the remote after the Reset press the Standby button (Amber led) on the front of the box.
To re pair the remote press 1 & 3 together on the remote and follow onscreen instructions to re pair.

Make sure that you are pointing the remote at the Q box when you press 1 & 3 together.

Resetting the settings will also reset:

Audio visual settings, such as picture resolution and HDMI control
Settings changed within the hidden engineer menu, include LNB type. If on a communal dish you need to reset the LNB to SCR in the hidden menu. After changing the LNB type you need to reboot the Q box.

Tried to do the reset to help with the paramount issue but instead lost satellite signal and have no way of getting it back.  Any tips on how to get the satellite signal back.

This exact problem is the same for me.  I reported it last year with Sky technical team,  They de-installed my App and re-installed it.  It lasted for about a week and then the buffering and the continuous Fan kicked in again.  Like you it only happens with the Paramount + App.  

I reported it again and they arranged an Engineer visit.  He tried the app himself and it began buffering straight away and as always the fan kicked in and the only way to stop the fan is to disconnect at the mains.  The Q box didn't  get hot but I was always reluctant to go to bed with the fan churning away.  It's a real pain if you're recording anything as it interrupts that of course.  The Engineer replaced the hard drive which then meant I had to re-initiate all my Apps.  Unfortunately, it didn't solve the problem long term.   I just avoid Paramount + where possible but I've just been watching a series that was a sky original and only aired from Paramount + after episode 1.  It is still a problem and the buffering keeps happening and last night after watching just 2 episodes the fan kicked in and I had to turn off at the mains.  Nightmare and time a fix wad sorted.

I have exactly the same problem. I reported it to Paramount + and they said I my broadband is not fast enough. I have fibre to the premises through Sky and get 150Mb. How fast does the broadband need to be for Paramount+ to work?

I get 26Mb over WiFi and P+ works perfectly, so it's not that.... unless your 150Mb is being throttled between your router and Sky Q boxes.  How is Sky Q connected to your router? If WiFi try temporarily connecting directly via Ethernet cable

I'm having the exact same problem - fan on overdrive all the time and constant buffering. Again, only on paramount plus. Definitely appears there is a unique issue with the app.
