Re: When watching paramount plus, buffering and loud fan noise,on q box

Agreed, mine doesn't and thousands don't. Just because a handful of SkyQ users have issues does not lay the blame at a Sky software issue at all.

The Paramount app completely fails on my TV, so I use the Sky's version. Doesn't mean in anyway I should blame the tv manufacture for this.

Unfortunately the problem seems to be widespread with SkyQ box and paramount+

Guess I must be the lucky one then, as I have no problems with the Sky Q embedded app - everyone else has my sympathy

I am just another Sky customer!

Same issue here!! Will try app reset to see if it stops fan. Reboot does not resolve for me, fan has been running for 3 weeks now!!

Re: When watching paramount plus, buffering and loud fan noise,on q box

You might be onto something Laing1. I'm not sure all SkyQ boxes are on the same firmware. I doubt it. This might be an incompatibility between the Paramount+ app and some SkyQ boxes.

When I said it's a software problem I simply meant that the fan is NOT being triggered because the SkyQ box is hot. It's not. If it were the fan should cool it down and then switch off. The fan will remain on permanently until you unplug the SkyQ box. Something (software of firmware) erroneously causes it to turn on and then no check is ever made to see if the SkyQ box is now cool enough so the fan can be turned off.
I'm happy to report that my fan has remained off for weeks now as long as I Never use Paramout+ (having reset all the apps via the secret settings menu.)  Nigel.  @Laing1

Re: Paramount+ software bug with Sky Q

Just because all people aren't seeing the issue doesn't mean it's not a software defect. And I'd just like to point out that it may be an issue related to running the software on certan hardware, but still be a software defect i.e. the software defect may only be seen on certain hardware.

Re: Paramount + causes Sky Q box fan to go loud and stay on

My Sky Q box has been freezing/Locking up with the fan stuck on until I unplug the box for about a month...

had an engineer attend today & replaced the main Q box. After a couple of hours the problem has come back with a vengeance 🤷🏼‍♂️

Re: Paramount + causes Sky Q box fan to go loud and stay on

No. Problem seems to have arisen since I used the Paramount + app. This could of course just be a coincidence though 🤔

Re: Paramount + causes Sky Q box fan to go loud and stay on

It's not a coincidence waynesully. It only ever happens after using Paramount+.
There's some kind of compatibility problem with that app and many Sky Q boxes.

Re: Paramount + causes Sky Q box fan to go loud and stay on

I have the same issue, if I try and do a software update the fan comes on and I have to switch the box off to get it to work again, was this ever resolved?

Re: Paramount + causes Sky Q box fan to go loud and stay on

Not resolved for me.. sky have just left me for months to get on with it!!

have an engineer booked in for this Thursday but doubt if there's anything they can do just like the previous engineers 🤷🏼‍♂️

Re: Paramount + causes Sky Q box fan to go loud and stay on

No Waynesully it's not resolved. I hope I didn't give the impression that it had been resolved for me.

i just simply refused to ever go near Paremount+ again. As long as I avoid that then my Sky Q box behaves perfectly and the fan Never Comes On. I appreciate that not all Sky Q customers may have this problem - but it appears widespread.

Avoid Paramount+ and you should be fine.

Re: Paramount + causes Sky Q box fan to go loud and stay on

I haven't used Paramount + since the problem arose back in March... This is a new 2 TB sky Q box and the problem STILL exists!!! 🤷🏼‍♂️
