I have had the same issue whenever I use paramount plus, the fan is excessively loud. Only way around this is full reset of sky q box.

I have the same problem. Only happens with Paramount Plus and on the main Sky Q box

I have the same issue, except it continuously clicks, hums and whirrs! It's worse when recording. At night when the volume is low it is loud enough to hear above the volume.

We have a Sky Q box
all apps work fine apart from Paramount+ which causes the internal fan on Sky Q box
to whirr noisily.
only solution is to power sky box off and power it on again. Only happens every time we select Paramount +.
seems to be a known problem. Is a fix forthcoming soon otherwise this App is unwatchable?

Also got the same issue watching paramount+, within 5 minutes the fan is going off and have to switch power off and on to resolve.

I have exactly the same problem.
i've had my sky Q box for several years and it has been fine - until I used Paramout +.
It's nothing to do with the ventilation round the box or your network speed.
It ONLY happens with Paramount +.
After using that app - and often while using it - the fan starts going at full speed. (Often with buffering).
Exiting the app and turning the sky Q box off does NOT stop the fan.
You have to power off the box at the mains and reboot it.
This is totally unacceptable.
If Sky can't provide an update to fix it then please tell us how to remove the Paramount + app without having to remove all the apps and lose all the settings (and possibly also the satellite signal I've read).
Not using Pramount+ is no guarantee that the fan won't come on overnight and remain on until you unplug the box from the mains. I don't record anything from Paramount + but I wish I'd never stared using it at all.
Clearly a software problem as the box is NOT hot and doesn't need the fan.
Other users have reported getting a replacement sky Q box and yet the problem persists.

I too have exactly the same issue. When watching Paramount+ the Sky Q box fan goes into hyper drive and won't stop until I restart the box.

No one gave me a fix but I googled software update there are a few remote control actions needed to get you into a maintenance menu, completed the update and the issue appears to have been resolved.

Obviously done at your own risk.

Hi,
I just we'd to say that I have the same problem and so have stopped using Paramount +.
At first this did NOT stop the problem as sometimes the fan would come on overnight - and stay on until I unplugged the sky Q box. I do not record anything from Paramount+.
Since then I have sumply reloaded ALL the apps (you do this via the 0 0 1 hidden settings menu) and NOT used the Paramout + app.
Fingers crossed that this seems to have worked. The fan has not come on since all app reload.
it's definitely a software problem with the Paramout + app.
its a pity that Sky don't seem interested in fixing it.

Just an update on this. I've avoided the problem by resetting all the apps via the secret 0 0 1 setting menu. And then NEVER using paramount+ again.
After this the fan has never come on for over 4 weeks.
i just went back into Paramount+ today to watch the last 2 episodes of Fasier.
fist episode went ok. 2nd and last episode caused the buffering and the permanent fan on again.
I've had to unplug the sky Q box yet again to get the fan to stop.
I've reset all the apps again and shall now NEVER use Paramount+ again.
what a joke! Clearly a software problem. Clearly Sky do not care about fixing it.
Very disappointed.

@NigeB2 not sure how it can be a software problem when all Q boxes are on the same firmware but not all Q boxes are suffering from this problem.
I use the paramount+ app regularly as do many others and i've never had this problem.
Wondering if its only certain versions of the box that are prone to this problem

Not sure you've got sufficient evidence to say "it's clearly a software bug" - if it was we'd all be having the same issue. I think it's more likely to be a hardware issue.

Unfortunately the problem seems to be widespread with SkyQ box and paramount+
14 Dec 2023 10:24 AM
Clearly not quite widespread and due to Sky as the SkyQ Paramount+ app always works perfectly here, yet the TV app will just buffer. Personally I think it is lack of willingness from Paramount to produce adequate support from whoever codes their Apps.
