New installation
I have just installed sky q and it has a plug in box. My television is wall mounted and I now have unsightly wires leading to my television. I anticipated my connection would be wireless and work in a similar way to a fire stick. Did I sign up to the wrong package or isn't there a system with sky to give me a wireless supply?

No.
All Sky boxes require an HDMI lead to supply a picture to the TV.
If your TV is 'smart' and has the NowTV app then you can stream that way. (Or run the app on a FireStick)
NowTV provide Sky channels if that's what you're after.

There is no fully wireless version of Sky TV. Both Sky Q and Sky Stream require a box with an HDMI cable to the TV.
If you want Sky programming wirelessly then, as previously advised, you'd need to see if your TV has the NOW app installed and get a subscription to it instead.
