I got the message again this morning about half an hour after switching on the tv and box. I followed the onscreen instruction to remove the card and reinsert and everything came back. , This lasted for exactly an hour before the blue screen and message reappeared. Have taken out and reinserted the card again and everything is back once more, probably for another hour. Hope it manages to be resolved soon as my ASD/SLD son has a mini box in his room that he loves and doesn't cope well with these (albeit brief) losses of service, even though I've explained to him that the box is 'having a hissy fit'

We're in Ireland and we had the same issue at around 5am this morning (hubby was up for an early start). He turned the tv off and left me a note.
All was fine from 8am until around 9.30am and it's happened 4 times in the past 30 minutes. 3 times, I took out the card, popped it back..... but the last time, I left it and it came back by itself. 
I'm just glad it's not just me! Hopefully they will resolve it soon

Sky q box keeps saying viewing card error

Keep getting viewing card error, turned the sky q box off at the plug, same happened again 3 times in last 30minutes, then said your viewing card is no longer working

We have reported this to Sky on a closed forum and they are working on this issue. Also see the post currently marked as the answer.

The viewing card message is now coming up every few minutes! Everything goes off, even recordings!

Sky Q box Crashing as of 6th Oct - Has another dodgy update happened?

Was ok yesterday, this morning the box has crashed 5x needing power cycled to recover it.

Last time this happened was a bad software update, was something pushed out overnight?

Mine is doing the same!  I have switched everything off as advised, but it's still not working.   40 min wait to call Sky.

  • Yep started this morning. Mainly, but not exclusively, on UKTV channels, e.g. U&alibi.
