Multiroom

Hi, I have a 4 bed house. I want Sky in 3 bedrooms, living room and kitchen. Was getting Sky Q with 4 mini box's but now been told by engineer I can only use 2 miniboxs at a time. If I get 4 miniboxs can I still get ordinary TV through 2 and sky through 2?

@Bakewell
You can have a maximum of 4 mini boxes loaned to you by Sky. You can watch Sky content on two minis and the main box at the same time. You may be able to use a 3rd mini box at the same time if you’re using it for one of the apps such as Netflix.
The original 1TB (non-UHD) Sky Q box only allows one mini to be in use. All 2TBs and the UHD/HDR 1TB permit two mini boxes. Each mini box which is loaned to you may be subject to a one off upfront charge but you only need one Sky Q monthly Multiscreen subscription.

Re: Multiroom

If I have the 4 mini box's plus sky Q box can I get sky through the Q box and 2 minis and  get ordinary TV through the other 2 or di they simply not work. If that is the case how do I get tv into those rooms as they will probably want to watch some form of TV all at the same time.

Hi @Bakewell   The Sky Q restrictions could mean that Sky Q is not for you. You can only watch live Sky TV on a maximum of two Mini boxes at the same time. The other two will show a message telling you to turn off one of the other two to watch on this one.

hi @Bakewell

We believe you can use more than 2 minis at the same time BUT the additional minis must be using one of the apps such as Netflix & the one (or possibly two) using the apps must do so before the 2 watching Satellite TV or recordings are in use

We have tended to quote Netflix as that was the most commonly used one but now iPlayer & ITV X are included so if the TVs are not Smart TVs and do not  have a terrestrial aerial feed, this may be of some use.

As there are one off admin fees for each mini we do recommend you think carefully before expanding beyond 2

Hi @Bakewell  Together with the Mini boxes you could also use the SKY Go app connected to a TV via HDMI from a games consol, or laptop, to watch content from your SKY TV subscription?
