Max number of mini boxes in use
This keeps happening more and more, I have 3 mini boxes and aware I can only use 2 at the same time plus main box. But I keep getting the max number of boxes in use when only one is and also sometimes when only the main box is on. I try restarting etc and still the same then next day ok but then all starts again, any ideas?

Hi @SimonJake
Try a Reset Settings in the main Q box hidden menu.
To enter hidden menu press Home and navigate down to Settings but do not select Settings.
With Settings highlighted press 0 0 1 Select.
Only Carry out the first Reset (Reset Settings) as the other two will wipe all recordings.
After the Reset you will have to re pair your Bluetooth remote If you use one.
If you cannot switch the Q box on with the remote after the Reset press the Standby button (Amber led) on the front of the box.
To re pair the remote press 1 & 3 together on the remote and follow onscreen instructions to re pair.
Make sure that you are pointing the remote at the Q box when you press 1 & 3 together.
Resetting the settings will also reset:
Audio visual settings, such as picture resolution and HDMI control
Settings changed within the hidden engineer menu, include LNB type. If on a communal dish you need to reset the LNB to SCR in the hidden menu. After changing the LNB type you need to reboot the Q box.

You perhaps need to tell us what is happening.
For your info you can have a maximum of 4 mini boxes loaned to you by Sky. You can watch Sky content on two minis and the main box at the same time. You may be able to use a 3rd mini box at the same time if you’re using it for one of the apps such as Netflix.
The original 1TB (non-UHD) Sky Q box only allows one mini to be in use. To check if you have the non UHD 1TB box check in:-
Home - Settings - System Info - Hardware Version
If it shows as 32Cxxx then you have a non UHD 1TB that only supports 1 active mini box.
All 2TBs and the UHD/HDR 1TB permit two mini boxes. Each mini box which is loaned to you may be subject to a one off upfront charge but you only need one Sky Q monthly Multiscreen subscription.

Re: Max number of mini boxes in use
I have the one for 2 mini boxes and most of the time this works but every now and again the message of to many boxes in use pops up when only one on then you can turn the one that is on off then switch one of the the other on and all ok. This is random boxes so it can be any, it can go for days / weeks all ok then happen again and if switching them on and off then all ok in the morning (tv only really on at night).

Re: Max number of mini boxes in use
One tip is to always exit back to the Home screen after using an app and before putting a Mini on Standby: this seems to help the main Q box keep track of what's active.
