Main Sky Q Box Has Crashed
My Sky Q (Main Box) has intermittently been making really loud noises (cooling fan) and has been getting really warm at times.
Firstly, no - it isn't closed inside a TV unit and secondly, it has suitable clearances for keeping it cool!
It is an older Sky Q box - we've had it since Q was first available and yeaterday, when turning the box on with the remote, the box showed the green light to display it was 'on' but my TV screen showed dark grey vibrating static across the whole screen. I am thinking that the box has crashed and died but looking for community thoughts/advice.
I have checked and re-checked all my connections and they are fine and have also done the usual of unplugging everything and rebooting to no avail. The Sky Q Mini Box is obviously saying there's no service because it can't communicate to the Main Box as it's down.
Has anyone had a similar problem occur after a period of their box making loud noises and getting hot? An educated guess makes me think that it's given up the ghost. I've ordered a replacement box online with Sky but just want to see if there is anything I can try..!

On a side note, remember to remove the viewing card from the old box before it disappears into the DPD van.

Re: Main Sky Q Box Has Crashed
Hi @Reevesey
In addition to making sure that you retain your viewing card;
If you have to order a new Q box this usually means a doorstep swap.
Also if the box you are replacing is a 2TB there are two versions of power supply. One has a standard C7 (figure of eight) power lead socket in the back of the Q box. The other has a separate power supply. Although this still has the C7 power lead into the power supply there is a multi pin Din power socket in the Q box for connecting the power supply. Make sure that the replacement box has the power supply included if the Q box has the orange coded multi pin din socket in the back of the Q box. See below.
