Loyal customer deals

I've been a sky customer for like 30plus years and would like to get some sort of loyalty discounts as it's becoming more and more expensive and out of reach. There are plenty of offers for new customers. All I seem to get on My Sky is pushy options to purchase or upgrade even further. Called recently as I'm out of contract but all I got was again, pushy sales trying to get me into a sky glass and I don't think the call centre really understood what I was after. Could it be more beneficial and is now the time to move elsewhere?

If you can't get a deal you're happy with then a new customer discount elsewhere would seem to be the best option?

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

It might well be.

If any business won't offer you what you consider a fair price for the service supplied, then you don't owe them anything.

I can't speak to why Sky are not offering existing customers on Sky Q the option to negotiate like they did in the old days, but I see a lot of people talking about it on socials, so can only assume it is a business decision.

Perhaps we are now at the point where the "deals" are only available (or more readily available), to those who take Sky Glass or Stream as the satellite service approaches end of life in 2029/30?

Re: Loyal customer deals

seems there is not so much weight placed on loyalty nowadays. I have actually made the decision to leave Sky and switch to EE.  whilst had started process did contact Sky as believe Tv element is not automatically cancelled. Spent a while with adviser on Messaging service but the offer I was given was not sufficient to change my mind., (would needed  to have switched to Sky stream for better Tv deal)  whilst Broadband prices  could not be checked as in Transfer process. However the offer I got when checking recently for upgrading to full fibre 500 was a bit expensive.

Ironically, I will be leaving EE broadband for the same reason, having been a long term BT then EE customer.

Re: Loyal customer deals

I'd hate to add up what I've spent to watch the tele over 30years!! Been filling the pockets of those at Sky and get literally nowt back.  Looks like Sky are the ones who aren't loyal.

Sky stream is a cheaper product in the first place with less channel than SkyQ  ( though I understand they are mostly  non Sky channels) so would expect a cheaper price for Sky stream than what payed  is paid for Sky Q. I did a exercise the other day compared what I Presently pay for my package on sky Q having been  with Sky off and on for over 30 years and 13.years with the present subscription and what a new customer would pay for Sky steam subscription  ( I could not do a like for like exercise for Sky Q as Sky Q not no longer available on line an therfore it not easy to see what a  new Sky Q  customers would be  offered) anyway  I have sky signature, sky sports, and TNT sports  and the HD add on. With my present minimum term who is only a few months old I pay  £106.50 . Doing a equivalent package on Sky stream for the same equivalent products less the HD add on becouse Sky stream this is standard and also Sky Q has the Netflix  basic with adds included on the Sky stream ultimate entertainment subscription which I pay extra direct to Netflix, worked at a monthly cost  of £67 pounds only £37 cheaper than what I pay on Sky Q.

As I said I believe that Sky stream is cheaper platform any way I therefore  consider what I paying on Sky Q is not significantly more that what a new customer is paying for the same products.
And taking the fact that new customers are offered cheaper deals as an incentive to subscribe which not just Sky most providers do the same even streaming services like prime video  and paramout offer free initial periods to entice new customers. I think fore think in my case exsisting customer paying a.bad price for what Sky offer me and I don't spend hours on the phone negotiating new deals when  my  minimum term is up I have better things to do with my time than that, I usually see what is offered and if reasonable usualy accept. After we don't negotiate with likes of Tesco every time we shop in there store for the best offers we normal pay the going price that offered for what we are buying so why dose when it comes to products like subscription entaimpnment do many take many hours negotiating the best price and continue swapping provider to achieve this aim subscription enterment is there to be enjoyed not a regular excise in time and effort to achieve the cheapest price. In fact some company have grown wise to this practice BT is one which I have there broadband band and had for many years and though there prices to new customers look remarkably cheap but the fact is they only offer new customers the basic service  only exsisting customers get a far more quality product subscription with extra at no extra cost that the new subscruber has to pay extra for. Yes the existing subscribe pays more than the  new subscribers but what the exsisting subscribers package includes as standard  is sufficanly more than what availble as standard to the new subscriber.

Re: Loyal customer deals

I've paid handsomely for them provide me a service. They've not really done me any loyal gesture. Oh hang on, I'll take that back, think I got a movie to watch once.

I should add that when my present mininum term ends I will probably cancel Sky, not because of price but because my but our entertainment needs are changing. By the time my minum term ends it will be march 2028 and bye then I expect Sky will no longer be being offered to new customers and expect the move for exsisting customers Sky push to switch them to stream will probably be in full swing with probley little discount offer for Sky Q I definitely don't think ther will be 2 year deals not with time by then that satellite service will have left an I think  Sky Q subscription will justvbexa monthly rolling contract to those hardened subscribers that want to stay to the end.

How ever my entermant use is different to when I first joined Sky, I don't think the amount I pay for subscription will actually decrease but rather than paying to one provider I will be paying to various streaming services in fact fact I am already so that now, Yes I still have Sky but mainly it the wife that watches that she prefers the simplicity of selecting channel numbers to watch manly Sky sports, TNT sports and fee to view channels like BBc , ITV and five. Where as I only watch Sky news on Sky the rest of my TV is on various apps so much so in April when my Sky minium term started that only happened when I used the annul increse to cancel my multiroom, and netfilx as I had bought a cheap tv firestick as I watch Netflix, prime video, Disney +  if wanted to watch TNT sports I can view that on HBO max app which I get at present on with my TNT sport subscription though Sky.  I have also found a lot of programming and movies on the ITV App ( which I pay a small amount monthly to vie and free) and the BBC. The only Sky channels irealyvwatc is Sky new which available on the firestick as a free channel. I have.bouughta fire stick so my wife can watch any thing on the apps whichbisxalotveaser and better quality as the tv skphe mainly watches is 4k compatabe and better quality than the apps on the SkyQ box.

so the present plan is when my present SkyQ term  ends I 2028 is to replace the wife Sky Q box with a frelely box for the free to air channels watches inclding the +1 channels that are not available on Sky stream any way and the now tv app for  her viewing of  Sky sports. I will have to subscribe to Disney + and HBO max dot theTNT sports content direct.

As said probably the amount I presently pay for subscription tv will not be any less and by 2028 comes will probably be a bit higher bearing in mind there will probably annual price increases conthose servces as well, just who I pay to will.

Presumably you've paid your TV license fee to the BBC for those 30+ years, have the BBC ever rewarded you somehow?

It's a business and always has been, their use of the words 'Loyal customer' whenever I contact them irritates me but I just ignore it as it's meaningless. I've been 18 years with Sky for the TV (almost entirely for the wife) but then I've always managed to get a renewal price that suits both sides, only scheduling a cancellation twice I think in all that time.

When they wouldn't budge on the BB price a couple of years back, I simply used the OTS system and went to Virgin. When Virgin messed me about at the end of 2 years, offering me an equivalent price before cancelling the offer without advising me of doing that, I came back to Sky for BB. I left Sky Mobile when they wouldn't budge on a large percentage increase, (went to O2 and then left them for the same reason later on).

Why people stay with any company for any product who won't come to an agreement that suits just befuddles me.
