Lost Dolby surround sound on SkyQ 101 BBC1 etc while 501 was just fine! Bet you can't guess why?

I don't watch live TV these days, but I got that call from my wife a few days ago. "What's wrong?" she asked. I groan.

"I've lost Dolby surround sound on BBC1 - "I didn't do anything she says".

Well, this went on for a few days as, yes, we had just stereo on the 101, 102,103 channels. It was all OK on the news channels of 501 and Apps etc.

I was starting to tear my hair out trying to identify what had happened - rebooting skyQ several times as you do etc etc

No luck, nothing I did brought Dolby back. Eventually, I thought it must have been a signal problem, even though my quality was 90 from the wideband LNB.

I guess I need to book a Sky engineer to visit, the logical side of my brain stated. So I booked one.

Then one night we watched a programme with audio descriptions of the actions. "What the hell is that we said?".

"OK". I went into the 'Accessability' menu - which I had never gone to ever before in my life - and saw that 'Audio description'  was turned on. I turned it off and Dolby sound immediately returned! I cancelled the engineer visit.

I have no idea how this got enabled. I can take a guess why this turning on Audio Description turns off Dolby but I can tell you it was a right pain to identify!
