Looking a package that can record and pause live tv

I have been on the same package for 10+ years - Sky plus. I do not have great broadband so need the sky dish. What would sky offer that could mean i can still record series to watch later (or more inportant to me fast forward the breaks)  or pause live TV via the dish. I had hoped to upgrade to sky Q but I think that is no longer an option.

You can still upgrade to Sky Q but probably only through calling Sky. 

I will cc in one of the other Superusers who has compiled a helpful guide for those thinking of transitioning from Plus to Q which may provide some insight into something you hadn't considered.

Sky Q is still an option. Your best bet is to ring Sky - they'll gladly switch you over to Q.

Thank you for that information. You had noted a few points that I forgot about and the  reason I had never moved in the first place! ie the Magic Eye! 

I think Sky had offered my a basic package that I could record and pause on rolling monthly contract. I will consider this and keep my sky+ box I think.

Remember that Sky+ boxes (and your dish) are no longer supported by Sky so if either fail your options will be change to Q / Glass / Stream or pay for an independent engineer to come out.
