LG Smart TV with Sky App built in - do I still need the Sky Box?

I have recently changed my TV to a LG Smart TV, and I have the Sky App directly in the TV. Do I still need to keep my Sky box or can I just use my account by logging on the app?

I seems outdated to have to keep the box?

Hi @Chloe889

If it is the Sky Go App on your TV you need your Q box on the same Network to be able to access recordings etc on your box.

@Chloe889  Sky, fully featured as an app would be great and a lot of people would like this.  Sadly all we can get at the moment is sky go.  You are correct that needing the box is a bit outdated but you dont get the full experience without it.  Not sure we will ever get there.

That's presumably the Sky Store app for rental and purchase viewing.

There's no Sky app on television sets in the UK which permits access to the Sky EPG (although it's available in Germany)

The closest thing would be NowTV, which is a different subscription.
