Is Sky Sports through Now the same as through Sky Q

I have got tired of paying over £30 a month for Sky Signature just so I can get Sky Sports. Sky Signature is very poor value for money and offers me nothing extra.

I currently get TNT Sports through an EETV package and it offers Sky Sports through the Now package. Is this the same as the Sky Sports offering through Sky Q ? Does Sky Stream offer a better solution?

Currently EETV doesn't have UHD on the Sky Sports channels. Their existing payment covers TNT Sport Ultimate UHD, but not NowTV channels, thus HD is currently the most you can get through them. This will change at some point, but not yet.

Apart from that, the channels are the same and to my eyes in as good a quality as via Sky. I had a separate subscription via Now which does allow the UHD versions, and they worked well on my LG TV and my Apple TV box [albeit the latter needs an adjustment in settings].

If you have a direct subscription of course there is no recording, unlike with SkyQ or the EETV box, so you are reliant on catch up, and I didn't check whether SkySports+ has the same live content [I suspect it does, but I couldn't say so - that may not be important to you].

NowTV is Sky.  Of course, if you opt for a streaming service there's no recording - this may or may not be an issue for you.

It is.

Note that EE doesn't currently carry the UHD boost, so HD is the most you can get if that is important to you. Also there are often deals available if subscribing directly to NowTV, but that won't get the channels on the EETV EPG or be recordable.

If you subscribe via EETV, you can use the NowTV app as well as the EETV service, which can help if you have more than one TV.

Thanks for the 2 replies but unfortunatly these just show how muddy the waters are.

I am aware that Sky own Now TV but this is a different way of delivering Sky Sports compared to Sky Q. I am trying to determine how much quality and convenience I am losing for the cost savings.

Richardr1 - I do have UHD through EETV. Are you saying that even if I use EETV rather than the Now App I will not get UHD for sports?

You can purchase a month's subscription and compare it?
