Installing Sky Q Box: Conflicting Information?

I've had a Sky+HD box for years, and recently renegotiated a reasonable new contract with Sky over the phone.

In the same converation, I was then asked if I wanted a Sky Q box, for free?

I was very hesitant - mainly because I'm not keen on change. I also didn't want an engineer in the house. (My autistic brother lives with me at the moment, and that makes changes and visitors very problematic indeed.)

But the guy on the phone reassured me (with great clarity) that the box would only need to be delivered, and that I could actually install it myself, at whatever time it suited me. (I was surprised by this.)

With this reassurance, I agreed to have the box - and selected a delivery date.

However, subsequent emails from Sky are saying that an engineer WILL be coming to install a Sky Q box on that date.

Ar present I don't know whether to simply cancel the Sky Q box, or what to do?

(I certainly can't upgrade in the near-future, and won't be pressured into doing so.)

Have I been misinformed?

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thank you.

@Jim-1975

Sky Q typically requires a change to the satellite dish (LNB swap)

They don't necessarily have to come inside, but would generally expect to do so.

Note that it's also a very different interface.

Hi @Jim-1975   As Sky Q is completely different to Sky+HD, I would imagine that this will be a major problem.

hi @Jim-1975

You may, also, wish to read some notes I have made for people considering switching from SKY +/HD to SKY Q

SKY +/HD to SKY Q

Re: Installing Sky Q Box: Conflicting Information?

Thank you @nigea99 ... lots of useful information to take in.

That's very decent of you to share it with folk - it certainly gets complex!

(Too much info for a quick decision, which is probably where I went wrong.)
