Installing Mesh with only one Sky Q box

Hi all,

I appreciate mesh discussions are a well trodden path, but they all seem to be where there are multiple Q/mini boxes. I just have one.

I recently bought a TP-LINK XE75 Pro, innocently thinking a mesh is a mesh, plug it in, off you go, happy days. When it arrived I did a quick search on installation and promptly returned it! I'd say I'm reasonably tech savvy, but not really in this field.

My set up: Sky broadband (std), Sky modem/router, 1 sky UHD 1tb Q box. I have no affinity to either the Sky broadband, nor the modem/router if change helps. My Q box is about 5m from my phone socket and router, in the same room. Currently we have one extender, but coverage has always been inadequate. Coverage we need is about 3,000sqft.

Because I don't have multiple SkyQ/mini boxes, does this make life easier?

If the only viable solution is, from reading numerous posts; disable Wi-Fi on Sky router, ethernet connect router to node 1, then ethernet from node 1, or node 2 (if far enough away) to Q box, then is that easily achievable with any mesh system, and what does the mesh system have to be able to do to make this happen (certain setting capability etc).

Many thanks in advance!

Re: Installing Mesh with only one Sky Q box

I have a similar setup to you with the addition of the sky Q mini boxes which I plan to ditch and use apple TV instead.

I am planning to set the TPLink XE75 in AP mode and use the same SSID as the sky router.

I'll post if I can get it to work or like you return the TPLINK mesh.

Fingers crossed
