I cannot get any tv channels to play sky tonight but previous nights I have had a problem with reco

I've had problems on playback with recordings it's been missing part's of the programs and sometimes won't playback at all tonight I can't even just watch TV  normally through sky  I think the box has packed up I've  pulled the plugs on the TV and sky twice but no joy
