Mine has now been sorted. Just ask sky to cancel your HBO subscription then when it has fully cancelled reactivate it again to the correct HBO account. FYI you can have 2 subscriptions on the same HBO account, I have one for tnt provided through my mobile phone provider and one from sky for series and movies both on the same HBO account.

Hello, I was just wondering did you get a 'Your subscription can't be changed right now' message while waiting for the HBO subscription to be fully cancelled? Sky told me to wait 48-72 hours before trying to re-activate the free HBO Max subscription this time with the correct email address. It's been over 72 hours so I've tried selecting Get HBO Max and I now get a 'Your subscription can't be changed right now' message. I'm hoping this means the cancellation is still in process and just taking a little longer than the 72 hours.

I had to contact sky again to chase up the cancellation. It finally went through just under 3 days, but I was initially told it would only be a few hours.

You don't need to cancel but you do need to call Sky. See the thread linked above. Or here

What number did you contact Sky on regarding this, and was it a specific team that dealt with the HBO deactivation/subscription.
I have previously contacted them on 2 x occasions (via live chat) and both times I've been told that they (Sky) cannot deactivate the HBO subscription at their end.
I have also today tried again to change the e-mail address on HBOmax online, without success even when I am signed out of all devices.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @arthur64, it's not letting me share the phone number in this message. It's an 0333 number that I found when looking online for Sky customer services phone numbers. I accidentally set up the free HBO subscription against an old (and closed) email address. This was because it was autopopulated and where the set up process was a bit slow and kept almost freezing, I accidentally set it up against this old email. Prior to this I haven't ever had a HBO subscription. The first time I called Sky I did have to be passed on to three different people as none of the automated 'press 1, press 2' were really relevant, so I had to explain the situation three times. The last person I spoke to said he had cancelled it and that after 48-72 hours I should be able to set it up again this time entering the correct email. I called back today (again, same phone number and no idea which option I selected to get through to a human!) and I was told it's still pending cancellation and can take up to 7 more days!

You don't have to deactivate/unsubscribe. Follow the link in my post above

Hello I have this issue, have been given my partner ID but HBo pushing me back to Sky.
Sky chat tell me to call BT , it's a mess.
please can someone help me resolve this.
spent the last 90minutrs being told by Sky chat agents they can't do anything. I did politely suggest they read their own website advice 🙂

Thank you - I think the issue seems to be that I already have a HBO account using those credentials and so even HBo are telling me I can't merge the two. But that's not what this thread implies.
