HDR not working via Pioneer Receiver

Hi all

I have recently upgraded to Sky Q HDR and have the following setup, Pioneer C-LX59 with the latest firmware and this allegedly supports HDR HLG over the HDMI ports 1, 2 and 3 in and I assume over HDMI port 1 and 2 out.

My SKY q box is connected into the Receiver on the HDMI port that allegedly supports HDR HLG and from  the receiver to my TV. When I connect my SKy box direct to the TV it shows HDR no problem.

However when I conncect the SKY Q to the Recevievr and from the Receiver to the TV, cannot access any of the HDR stuff.

Sky Q does allow me to switch to 10 bit no problem...

Anyway, was wondering if anyone knew how to solve... do I need better cables? HDMI 2.1 versions?

R

Hi @hansoslow

A quick scan of AV forums indicates that your Pioneer does not support HLG HDR.

Having looked at the manual and spec sheet for your receiver I can see that can pass-through UHD content via HDMI but there's no mention of it being able to pass through HDR content of any type. Do you have confirmation from Pioneer that it can?

hi @hansoslow

I think you may need to set a setting for the HDMI.

Can I refer you to the HDMI 4K/60p Signal Input Setting in your manual on page 90 of the English Manual I found online

Re: HDR not working via Pioneer Receiver

Thanks everyone for the answers... and thanks for the links. It seems I need to get a new TV which has Atmos passthrough or a new receiver.

Good news is that my equipment is somewhat old (+8years), so if I can jedi-mind trick you-know-who, than upgrade-time!

Cheers all...
