HDMI bypass

Hi, my sharp tv is just out of year warranty and the hdmi is really playing up, lines all over the tv at times - question is can I connect my sky q to the tv without using the tv hdmi?  And if so how, please, I can see hdmi to scart leads but have also read that it needs to be hdpc and not sure what that is!  Thank you

@Julie066

HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) doesn't apply to SCART because the video signal over such cable (which is now half a century old) is very far from high-bandwidth resolution.

@Julie066 HDCP is the copy protection system, it's to protect against people doing things like recording Sky movies to DVDs etc.

Are you sure it's the HDMI port on your TV that's on the way out, rather than the Sky box or TV itself, or even the HDMI cable? If possible can you try another device on the HDMI port and see if the same thing happens?

Re: HDMI bypass

Thank you, I tried a new hdmi cable and it was the same, it hadn't occurred to me it might be the box!  It may well be the tv, I should have sent it back as it's always had dodgy connections.  Will try another device, thank you, appreciate it

Cool. Keep us posted. For what it's worth it probably is the TV if it's always been a bit funny.

If it is the TV and it's out of warranty then I think getting a new TV is probably the way to solve it.
