Getting a refund on billing whilst waiting for an engineer visit

I had a no satellite signal and I tried the different ways suggested to fix the problem. Sky diagnostics suggested there is a problem with the Sky Q box and suggested I book an engineer visit. I did so on Sunday, 15/09/24. The problem started on 14/09/. The engineer visit is booked for 07/10/24, more than 3 weeks away. How do I get a refund on my montly bill as I cannot watch any TV (Sky) until the engineer comes to fix the problem.

@fed-up-user You can't, there is no automatic right to credit for loss of tv service

you need to wait for it to be fixed and then call sky to enquire about the possibility of a credit for days without which is solely at sky's discretion and not mandatory

Hi @fed-up-user   Sky will expect you to use Sky Go. Only broadband and phone quality for automatic compensation.

Thank you superuser @SKY1992bf  for your fast response. I am amazed to learn that consumer law does not apply to Sky t.v services. By their own admission Sky has admitted that they have identified a problem with the Sky Q box. Yet if I understand you correctly I have no right of refund despite paying for a service I am not recieving. Fair enough. Lesson learnt. Perhaps this will drive me to seek other avenues to entertain myself. Many thanks for responding.

@fed-up-user

Billing continues as normal during faults and as stated after it has been fixed you can contact Sky and ask for a credit on your account for the period you've been without full service.

To be fair they usually consider a credit.  But as noted do not be tempted to withhold payment.

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

Fair comment @fed-up-user the same goes if you have ordered Sky Q and the install is three weeks away your Sky TV subscription is available via Sky Go as you've paid for a month in advance no difference really
