Faulty remote control

I had sky q installed yesterday and the remote has stopped working. Tried new batteries but it's dead. Tried a friend's remote and it paired and worked on my new box no problem so my remote needs replacing although only 1 day old

After checking the basics, ie; fresh batteries, re-pairing etc if your Sky Q remote is definitely broken or faulty, if you follow this link it should allow you to do some more troubleshooting and then it’ll send you to a form to request a replacement (I’m not sure if this is available to customers in the Republic of Ireland).

It may be quicker to purchase a new remote from a retailer / larger supermarket. If you do that as well as the above you’ll have a spare.

In the meantime if you have an android or Apple device with Sky Go you can possibly set up a virtual remote to control your Sky Q box. See this link which may help

Re: Faulty remote control

Thanks. I am trying to find a way to contact sky but phones not getting answered after an hour. I'm not paying for a remote myself when my equipment is only 1 day old

Check the post before yours (the link).

hi @Brackley+Man

Have you tried resetting your remote ?

if not, may I suggest you do try a reset of your remote:

Press & Hold the 7 & 9 until the remote's light (red LED above the SKY logo button) flashes 4 times

Then press 1 & 3 together to go through to re-pair with the box and your TV - make sure it has line of sight of the box as until it is paired it uses Infrared

I agree. The advice about buying one was purely based on obtaining a spare and that it might be quicker.
