Essentials package

I never had a subscription I stopped subscribing to sky 4 months ago. All I had was the sky+hd box that was disconnect and laying around the house doing nothing. I was more than happy with YouTube. I just phoned them and they were more than happy to switch the box back on even though I never had a subscription.  So all I would say is anyone who wants the essentials pack and has a sky Hd box without currently subscribing to sky, Give them a ring it took me 10 min.and it's a fiver a month.

With a sky+ box you don't need to subscribe to Sky Essentials for the free to air channels, just plug it in. As long as you have a sky+ dish.

Our Q contract finished, so downgraded to Essentials to keep the Q box, otherwise you have to pay for the box.

The only reason I pay the fiver a month for the sky hd is for the convenience of having the record rewind pause and the user friendly interface on the sky hd box. I get all the channels I need. So for me it's worth a fiver a month.

How'd you get iy for a fiver? Isn't essential 15?!

My sky essentials is on sky+Hd  and it was a black Friday deal last year. I would not pay £15 for what is basically Freesat some people mite but certainly not me. I have no idea how much essentials is now and I don't honestly care. I am on a rolling £5 quid a month. But for the record and pause facilities and I players it does me. As I have zero interest in sky's pay channels.

Sky Essential TV on Stream starts from £15pcm

Sky Television Essentials on Sky Q (and Sky+ HD) has a list price of £15pcm but is frequently discounted.

Unfortunately Sky caused considerable confusion with its choice of product names.

I've been a sky customer for 23 years and for this I feel like I'm being penalised. 

We have skyq and normal broadband with zero sports channels and it's costing well over 100 quid a month which sky say is a special price for me because I've been with them a long time ...[Removed]

If I go for sky essentials can I add HD to that package.

Q Essentials is freeview only.  There's little point in adding HD.

There is virtually no point in having the HD add on with Essentials

The HD versions  that are the Freesat channels available with Essentials do not need the HD add on & can be watched in HD without it.

There is one quirk in that C5 & I think Channel 4 are free to watch & record off live in HD but you cannot download from catch up & on demand in HD

@mdc4566  In answer to your question you you cannot add HD  to the Essentials package even if you wanted to aas you need the base package of Sky signature to add  any further TV packages.

I'd also not go shouting about a special fully loaded Firestick on a Sky run forum
