Daily software update needed on sky q mini box
I've got 4 mini boxes and one of them demands a software update if I try and watch tv before 6am everyday..... I know how to but surely this isn't right. Is there a fix?

Take it out of eco mode. That will stop it going into deep sleep / receptive to an update signal fron the satellite in the middle of the night. Might stop it asking.

I know it's a fairly old thread but I've got exactly the same issue as the OP. About a month ago one of my two mini's had an "update softare" message first thing in the morning. I updated the software, then the same message was displayed the following morning. This now happens pretty much every morning! The firmware version is the same as my other mini, so presumably the latest version, but it still asks for an update each morning. Is this a fault with the box?

Hi @Drcarrera Are you sure it it not being displayed by your TV (not the Sky Q box). Try using your TV remote. A picture may help.

It sounds like a message from the TV as Sky boxes typically update automatically and don't display messages asking to update.

Agree, this a TV update , as Sky boxes do not display an update message.

Au contraire!
Sometimes it's the first message, sometimes the second.
Even if the "update" appears to work it makes no difference to the version number. If I force an update via the set up menu it doesn't help, either. These messages only ever come up first thing in the morning. My other mini has the same software version and is fine. It effectively means I have to power cycle the mini box every morning before I use it.

That's very unusual, I would suspect that particular box is faulty and the software is becoming corrupt, requiring a new download to re-install it every day. Ideally get the box swapped.

that sounds like your Sky Q mini is stuck where the software has become corrupt.
Would suggest replacing your Sky Q mini using this online form.
