Connectivity Issues . Apps and TV

Have a 4 year old Sky Q, setup  consisting of a master box and TV in the living room and a slave attached to a TV in an upstairs bedroom.

Yesterday I lost connectivity to the slave box ( TV lost). Apps etc. were fine so no obvious router problem.Rebooted the slave box...Problem solved.

Today...TV fine on the slave box...but no router connectivity  and so no apps etc. Had to reconnect the slave box to the router using WPS...All was well.  Went out of the bedroom and returned....everything went down on the slave box( TV and router). Went downstairs to check all ok there ( all working fine) . Got back to the bedroom...slave box working fine.

1. Is anyone else having problems  like this of late with a SkyQ, slave box? Could the slave box be faulty?

2. Our wi fi is now via EE ( BT moved us across about 5 weeks ago) and we now have an EE Smart Hub 6 + router. Is there anyone out there with a similar setup and have you had any connectivity problems like this?

@EugeneM1 I think your problem may be how you connected the mini box by wifi.

If you have third party broadband and you are connecting the mini box by wifi then you need to connect it by WPS to your main Q box and not (you EE/BT) router

I may be a Sky Superuser but I am still just a Sky customer

Re: Connectivity Issues . Apps and TV

Apologies but I'm a bit confused by your answer.

1. Are you saying that both TV and apps on the slave box are "powered" by a single signal coming from the master Sky Q box (Rather than TV from the master box and apps from the router)?

2. If that's true, why on "Settings" on the slave box is there a facility to connect the box to a router at all?

Cheers....

@EugeneM1 Yes I am

the mini box needs to be connected to the main Q box by WPS when a  a third party broadband is used but if you have Sky as your broadband provider then the mini box can connect to either the main Q box or thr router whichever is closest

The main Q box emits a mesh which the router and mini connect to but obviously the third party router  doesnt connect to the mesh signal (as its not got the airties equipment which the mesh is based on in the router) the main box emits hence the reason for the mini box needing to connect to the main boxes mesh

Re: Connectivity Issues . Apps and TV

Ok.

Are you saying then that if the mini  slave box loses either its apps or its main TV connectivity ( or both), I need to hit the WPS buttons on the main box (first??) and the mini box ( second?) In order to reconnect to receive apps/TV/,both?

@EugeneM1 normally if the mini box loses connection to the main box then the coccomendation is to

reboot your main Q box ie
putting your box into Standby then switching it off at the wall for 30 seconds
switch it back on then follow the on screen instructions

then

reboot the mini box

as the main box  should reconnect to the router and the mini should then reconnect to the main box  without having to press the WPS button

Re: Connectivity Issues . Apps and TV

Ok.. Thanks for that.

For the record....Between my last post and your reply I lost the apps again. I reset the mini box pairing the mini box with the main box via WPS and its held so far.

I see your advice about rebooting the main and then the mini box and that makes sense. Let's see what happens next!!
